Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the LLC Director, this position provides administrative and secretarial services for the Library Learning Center. In addition to general duties, this position works with the LLC Director to order, coordinate, and distribute all student and staff textbooks. The LLC secretary also works with the Assistant Principal of the Dean's Office and both middle schools to coordinate annual photo ID creation and distribution. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize the diverse workload and the ability to work with students, staff and parents is a must.
Essential Duties:
  • Assist students and staff in maximizing use of all of the library's resources including books, periodicals, online resources, AV equipment and computers
  • Help with routine library duties including checking in and checking out materials; shelving books; responding to student and staff inquiries; participating in library special events; assisting in the yearly inventory; and maintaining office supplies for use in the library
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of textbooks and English novels during the school year
  • Undertake any special projects requested by the librarian such as weeding the collection and conducting special research projects.
  • Process purchase orders for LLC Director and Technology Coordinator; track budget accordingly
  • Responsible for organizing annual textbook inventory
  • Order textbooks for the following year according to enrollment numbers from guidance
  • Act as liaison between Wheaton North and the textbook manager for needed materials
  • Assist in maintenance of Online Textbook Access records
  • Process incoming library books, including maintaining social media and series list updates
  • Coordinate summer ID creation and distribution for new and returning students
  • Act as liaison between ID company and Wheaton North
  • Process summer periodicals

Qualifications:
  • A positive, professional attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent technology skills in a variety of computer software and database applications (e.g. Google, Destiny, Synergy, etc.)
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to problem-solve
  • Ability to multi-task and work with multiple interruptions
