Job description

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for setting up and operating Manual machines, CNC machining centers, and other value-added equipment, loading and creating programs through data transfer and MDI programming. Works with leads, planners, and supervisors to achieve production goals. The machinist is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints and producing quality parts according to specifications and time restraints. Requires considerable autonomy with little to no supervision to perform duties of the job.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist Leads, programmers, and supervisor on setups and execution of projects.

  • Set up and operate machine tools as required to meet drawing specifications for tools and fixtures. This includes G-Code/MDI and/or the independent creation of CAD/CAM programs for CNC programming of machine tools.

  • Utilize experience and expertise in machining to assist programming team by developing labor assisting tools and fixtures. Incorporate lean practices to eliminate waste, create better flow, reduce bottle necks, and achieve SMED. Identifies and removes inefficiencies from programs through awareness and process engagement.

  • Assist in the daily preventative maintenance programs for all machine tools under your control. Repair minor damage to machinery and tooling.

  • Train machine operators in the proper setup and operation of machine tools.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
