Summary:
The Manager, SEC Reporting is responsible for leading the preparation and filing of all external financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations for a manufacturing organization. This role ensures timely, accurate reporting of financial results, supports technical accounting matters, and partners cross-functionally with operations, FP&A, legal, and external auditors. The position plays a key role in maintaining internal controls and enhancing financial reporting processes within a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
SEC Reporting & Compliance
  • Manage the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statement, Section 16 and other required filings.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and applicable disclosure requirements.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee XBRL tagging requirements and complete in-house EDGAR filing process.

Financial Statement Preparation
  • Responsible for the consolidation and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency and integrity of financial results across all filings, earnings materials, and supporting documentation

Technical Accounting
  • Research and document technical accounting issues as they arise, including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, lease accounting, and other complex matters relevant to manufacturing operations.
  • Draft technical accounting memos and support implementation of new accounting standards and SEC pronouncements.
  • Oversee accounting for share-based compensation, including preparation and review of journal entries and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Prepare and review earnings per share (EPS) calculations, including dilution analysis and reconciliation to supporting records and equity systems, ensuring accuracy of amounts included in SEC filings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with manufacturing sites, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of cost of goods sold, inventory, and capital expenditures.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to align external reporting with internal performance metrics and business drivers.
  • Lead the preparation of earnings releases and related materials, ensuring alignment with Form 10-Q disclosures, accuracy of financial information, and compliance with SEC non-GAAP and disclosure requirements.

Audit & Controls
  • Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Support SOX compliance efforts, including maintaining and improving internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the design and operation of Disclosure Controls and Procedures (DC&P), including coordination of quarterly certifications.

Process Improvement & Systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial reporting processes, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Support ERP and financial reporting system upgrades or implementations.

Leadership & Development
  • Supervise and mentor staff and senior accountants as applicable.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the team.

Other information:
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred
  • CPA certification required
  • 6-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or SEC reporting experience (Big Four accounting experience preferred)
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems (Infor or similar) and financial reporting tools (e.g., ActiveDisclosure, Workiva)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
