Seasonal Paper Correction Jobs (NOW HIRING)

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Field Trip Specialist is responsible for creating meaningful, mission-driven experiences for schools and community organizations visiting for self-guided field trips. The Field Trip Specialist ensures a seamless visit experience that inspires participants to care for animals and understand the importance of wildlife conservation. By promoting educational programs and engaging opportunities, the Field Trip Specialist helps foster connections between guests, animals, and conservation efforts.

We are pleased to offer this part time position an Employee Assistance Program, 401K, Paid CA Sick Time. The pay range for this position is $18.27 - $19.18 per hour. Offers will be based on the successful candidate’s experience.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
•    Provide field trip pricing and information for any organization interested in visiting the FCZC.
•    Primary contact for groups interested in visiting the zoo by entering group information into the Point of Sale within 48 hours of the group’s initial request and send field trip confirmation.
•    Primary contact with groups and provides ongoing communications to ensure the group is prepared for their visit.
•    Prepare and organize supplies groups will need during their zoo visit.
•    Check in, collect payment, and distribute supplies to groups on the day of their visit.
•    Direct bus unloading in the parking lot and ensuring crowd control for groups waiting to enter the zoo.
•    Speak to large crowds, providing information and answering guests’ questions in a public setting with professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
•    Be available to assist groups throughout their visit
•    Assist the stations at ticket booth, giraffe feeding, Stingray Bay, and seasonal exhibits as needed.
•    Collect feedback from groups after their visit
•    Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring work is completed thoroughly, correctly, and in accordance with established standards and procedures.
•    Track inventory of all field trip supplies
•    Uses Microsoft Office application tools effectively to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and in support of departmental operations.
•    Connect our guests to the mission of the zoo.
•    Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals.

EDUCATION AND JOB QUALIFICATIONS
•    High school diploma or equivalent required.
•    Minimum two (2) years’ paid customer service experience, including point-of-sale cash handling required. 
•    Minimum two (2) years’ operating a point-of-sale system on a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet required. 
•    Excellent written and verbal English communications skills required. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•    This position is normally seated but may be required to stand for up to 5 hours a day and walk up to 3 miles day.
•    The employee may be required to bend, stoop, and kneel.
•    The employee is regularly required to lift or carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
•    Close visual acuity to view a computer monitor and read printed materials.
•    Hand and finger dexterity to receive and count paper money and coins and operate a cash register.
•    Receive detailed information through oral communication (in person and via telephone), at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
•    Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken information to others in small and large group settings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
•    This position regularly works with others including Zoo executives and employees.
•    This position functions both indoors and outdoors, with possible exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather, Zoo environments and external events 
•    The employee may be exposed to environmental substances such as dust/dirt from Zoo grounds. 
•    The position works in close proximity to Zoo animals. 
•    Regular local travel and occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
•    Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
