ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Delica Department (Line Cook/ Deli Clerk). The Delica Department items for Delica products include all Deli, Sushi, and Bakery items. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Processing, cutting, and wrapping Delica items
• Maintaining the back stock/cooler area in a well-organized manner
• Packaging food products
• Cooking hot meals
• Food Preparation (Sushi, Deli, Bakery, and Japanese food)
• Following recipes and accurately measure ingredients
• Maintaining good communication with store management, associates and suppliers/vendors
• Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep
• Ensuring proper presentation of Delica items along with providing a smile, greeting, and assisting customers
• Ensuring Delica items are handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised
• Checking product temperature to ensure freshness and quality
• Maintaining a knife grip in order to cut meat to specification
• Weighing, pricing, labeling, organizing and rotating meat products per Marukai standards
• Unloading meat and deli items upon vendor deliveries
• Check product temperature to ensure freshness and quality
• Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate perishable products per Marukai' standards
• Ensuring all meat products are in the rightful place, so that shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily
• Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine
• Unpacking and stocking Delica and sushi items
• Cleaning and sanitizing work areas
• Work Environment will be in extreme temperature
Customer Service:
• Providing premier customer service, including greeting and responding to questions
• Engaging in suggestive recommendations and other sales techniques and meeting or exceeding Department's sales goals
• CA Clerk's Affidavit completion: Age 18 & over
• Ensuring a safe and clean work environment
• Cross Training:
• Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.
• Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
• No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
• Previous experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Deli Clerk experience is preferred
• Possess a CA Food Handling license by the required deadline(s) and the ability to require one
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid
• Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, deli, and sushi meat while performing job duties.
REQUIREMENTS
• Comfortable with working in a kitchen environment
• Must be able to follow recipes and accurately measure ingredients
• Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
• Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
• Able to read, write, and do simple math problems
• Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
• Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
• Ability to interact with all levels of management
• Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate
• Other job related tasks which are assigned by the supervisor and/or manager
