Job description

Job Title: Curriculum Writer

Reports to: Manger of Curriculum Development

Status: Full-Time, Regular—Exempt Salary

The Curriculum Writer researches, develops, and writes academically rigorous curriculum for kindergarten through twelfth grade that integrates a biblical worldview and presuppositional apologetics across multiple subject areas, including Bible, history, science, and apologetics. This individual creates engaging, age-appropriate instructional materials that equip students to understand God's Word, think critically, and defend their faith.

Working collaboratively with curriculum writers, subject matter experts, instructional designers, and the Academic Curriculum Editor, the Curriculum Writer develops lessons, assessments, teacher resources, and instructional activities that are theologically accurate, educationally sound, and aligned with established curriculum frameworks. This position contributes to the development of high-quality Christian school and homeschool curriculum that reflects the mission and doctrinal positions of Answers in Genesis.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, and write curriculum for multiple grade levels with intentional integration of a biblical worldview and presuppositional apologetics.
  • Develop learning objectives, lesson plans, instructional activities, assessments, and teacher resources.
  • Collaborate with curriculum team members on curriculum planning and design, create course outlines, and identify learning objectives that translate educational goals into pedagogically sound instructional materials.
  • Ensure curriculum is academically rigorous, engaging, age appropriate, and aligned with designated educational standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, editors, instructional designers, and other curriculum writers throughout the development process.
  • Review and revise curriculum based on editorial feedback, classroom testing, and quality assurance processes.
  • Assist in evaluating and updating existing curriculum to maintain accuracy, relevance, and educational excellence.
  • Collaborate with digital developers to create supplemental online resources and instructional materials.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and biblical convictions of Answers in Genesis through curriculum development.
  • Demonstrate Christlike integrity, professionalism, and teamwork in all responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must agree with and be able to sign the Answers in Genesis Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Active member of a local Bible-believing church.
  • Thorough understanding of biblical creation, creation/evolution issues, and presuppositional apologetics.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously with other curriculum production team members to successfully achieve program goals through coordinated team effort, peer-review, and team discussions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign or similar publishing software preferred.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrates humility, teachability, and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback graciously.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in education, Bible, theology, science, history, English, curriculum and instruction, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of Christian school classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience writing or developing curriculum, educational resources, or instructional materials preferred.
  • Experience aligning curriculum to educational standards preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Scripture, biblical worldview integration, and apologetics.
  • Experience working collaboratively through an editorial or curriculum development process is a plus.
