Description

Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC, a world class supplier of power generation services, parts and repairs, has an immediate opening for individuals with a desire to join a growing organization and with an appetite for diverse and technically challenging work.


The Repairs Division is seeking both entry level as well as more experienced Machinists that can specialize in Bucket / Blader precision turbine machining. In this position you must be able to work in the St. Louis shop and more experienced individuals will requires some travel for work in the field. SUMMARY: Bucket / Blader Specialized Machinists sets-up, adjusts, and operates shop and portable machine tools to repair turbine rotating steampath components.

More experienced candidates may also lead and direct the work of others.


Experience:


I - no experience required

II - minimum 2 years' experience

III - minimum 5 years' experience

  • Install and machine GE tangential entry and axial entry buckets/blades (all levels)
  • Install and machine Westinghouse T root buckets/blades (all levels)
  • Erosion shield and brazing techniques (levels II, III)
  • Install and machine GE finger dovetails (levels II, III)
  • Install and machine Westinghouse axial dovetails (levels II, III)
  • Install and machine all manufacture type blades (levels II, III)
  • Tie wire braze of buckets (levels II, III)
  • Tenon grinding (levels II, III)
  • Evaluating the bucket condition at job site to establish the required repairs (levels II, III)
  • Explain and discuss needed repairs, schedules, man loading with customers (levels II, III)


EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Original manufacturing methods and standards; basic knowledge of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, punch press, etc. (all levels)
  • Familiar with NDE techniques such as dye penetrates and mag particle (all levels)
  • Knowledge and ability to use both hand and power tools associated with grinding, deburring, and metal forming (all levels)
  • Knowledge and ability to use common precision measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, level, square, file or rasp, etc. (all levels)
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow company repair procedures and directions (all levels)
  • Strong customer service experience in explaining and discussing needed repairs and being able to determine scheduling time frame (levels II, III)
  • Ability to lead other bucket bladers and supervise work being performed at the customer site (levels II, III)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (all levels)
  • Machining vocational school training or experience in portable field machining equipment (all levels)
  • Experience running large lathes and Bridgeport mills (all levels)
  • CNC experience and programming skills (all levels)
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, basic geometry and their applications (all levels)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license (all levels)
  • Good oral and written communications (all levels)
  • Ability to lift 20 - 50 pounds (all levels)
  • Willing to travel a minimum of 50% of the time (levels II, III)
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and off hours (levels II, III
