SCHOOL TOUR/PROGRAM MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION

School Tours/Program Manager Responsibilities:

The School Tour/Program Manager’s primary role is to design and deliver authentic agricultural experiences that nurture the connections between children and food. The School Tour/Program Manager is responsible for guiding and supporting children Pre-K – 3rd grade through farm and garden activities and transitions during each 1–2-hour tour timeframe, as well as overseeing the Tour team. The School Tours/Program Manager will report directly to the Regional Manager of Orchard Operations.

The School Tour /Program Manager duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Training, supervising, and leading the part-time/seasonal school tour staff including, but not limited to, our school tour guides
  • Performing and/or overseeing all aspects of our tours from welcome, check-in support, station rotation, lunch breaks and station delivery in times of smaller tours
  • Teaching each tour station and tailoring presentations to be age appropriate including:
    1. Classic Tour
    2. Basic Pumpkin
    3. Tour Maze Tour
    4. Honeybee Tour
  • Assist with all daily activities as needed, including set-up, inventory, and clean-up
  • Solicit, expand, and update our e-mail/mailing list for local schools, daycares, churches, camps, etc.
  • Update packet and brochure information when needed
  • Attend weekly farm team/school tour meetings
  • Review school tour records and determine plans to encourage customer loyalty.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to plan and conduct children’s activities
  • Ability to engage the attention of large groups and guide them effectively from station to station on large tour days
  • Ability to work both as a team player and independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A plus would be current certification in standard first aid and CPR
  • Strong organization skills
  • High energy
Hours:

School Tour/Program Manager works a minimum of 45 hours per week with additional hours required during Orchard Season.

Salary:

This is a salaried (exempt) position, plus opportunity for Orchard Season bonus.


This will be part time January - July, Monday-Wednesday. Full time August-October, then part time again November & December.
