For more information go to: www.mounthermon.org/internshipsPosition Objective:The Camp Services Intern will function as a support role within the Camp Services Department, primarily assisting the Senior Director of Camp Services in the leadership and development of the Camp Service Worker (CSW) program. This includes scheduling, spiritual discipleship, mentoring, communication, and cross-departmental coordination. The intern will also help foster a culture of Christlike service and intentional community among young adult staff while gaining firsthand experience in leadership and operations in a Christian camp environment.General Qualifications:

The Camp Services Intern is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats. All staff are expected to join gatherings which include prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching. Key Job Accountabilities:    

  • Assist the Senior Director of Camp Services with administrative tasks related to the Camp Service Worker program, including scheduling and time tracking.
  • Participate in spiritual leadership of the CSW program by helping lead devotionals, prayer times, and check-ins.
  • Build relationships with Camp Service Workers through mentoring and regular one-on-one or group interactions.
  • Support cross-departmental communication between CSWs and their various departmental supervisors (Front Desk, Food Services, Retail, Accommodations, etc.).
  • Help coordinate CSW housing needs, orientation, training, and ongoing team development.
  • Serve as a positive and encouraging presence that models Christlike servant leadership to all seasonal staff.
  • Participate in planning CSW leadership development events, activities, and recognition.
  • Assist with onboarding, community building, and end-of-season wrap-up processes for the CSW team.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Camp Services.

Intern Program Key Accountabilities (10% to 15% of your time):

  • Thoughtfully engage in coursework and readings assigned by the Intern Program Director, in order to grow in your understanding of God, yourself, and your vocational calling.
  • Attend, engage, and contribute to Intern Program meetings and trainings.
  • Participate in two Intern Retreats and one all-staff retreat.

Other Responsibilities (up to 25% of your time):

  • Serve cross-departmentally in order to learn other skills and service roles in camping ministry. This may include Dining, Facilities, Accommodations, and Guest Services.
  • Help facilitate a Guest Group event during the Thanksgiving holiday week, in partnership with Mount Hermon’s Guest Services team and other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Provides leadership and support to Camp Service Workers under the direction of the Senior Director, but does not supervise employees.
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
  • Bachelors degree
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications preferred but not required.
Work Experience:
  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a ministry, leadership, or camp setting preferred.
  • Experience coordinating or mentoring peer-aged individuals a plus.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical environments including indoor and outdoor settings in all weather conditions.
  • Requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, and the ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to engage in physically active work and maintain stamina throughout the day.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must agree to and comply with MHA's employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's mission, vision, culture code and standards of conduct.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provideproof of eligibility to work in the United States.
