Job description

About Lovingly
Lovingly helps independent florists win in their local markets while building a consumer brand that customers love returning to. We operate at the intersection of local commerce, technology, and emotionally meaningful moments.
We're building systems, not one-off campaigns - and we use AI as a core part of how we operate, not as a buzzword.
Role Summary
We're looking for an SEO Generalist who can own how Lovingly - and our florist partners - show up across search:
  • Local (maps, packs, listings)
  • Web (partner sites + lovingly.com)
  • Emerging AI assistants and answer engines

This is not a narrow "SEO specialist" role focused on one site or one channel. You'll define standards, drive execution through others, and personally ship work that moves the numbers.
You won't be fighting to convince people SEO matters. You'll be designing and running the system that proves it.
Requirements
What You'll Own
Outcomes
  • Organic visibility and traffic growth for:
    • Priority partner florist sites
    • lovingly.com
    • Local search surfaces (GMB/GBP, maps, local packs)
  • SEO-driven lift in first orders and GMV for target partner cohorts and key lovingly.com journeys
  • Solid technical and local SEO hygiene across high-priority accounts and core lovingly.com sections

System & Standards
  • Create and maintain the SEO playbook for:
    • Partner sites
    • lovingly.com
    • Local search (GBP, listings, basic citations)
  • Define non-negotiable standards for:
    • On-page elements (titles, meta, headings, content blocks)
    • Technical basics (indexation, redirects, robots, sitemaps)
    • Tracking and analytics tied to SEO initiatives

Routing & Delegation
You'll direct (not manage) SEO work done by:
  • Digital Marketing Specialists
    • Landing pages, metadata, content updates, basic technical hygiene
  • Online Business Coaches
    • Google Business Profiles, local listing hygiene, simple on-site updates driven through shop conversations

You own the standards, priorities, and acceptance criteria. They help you scale execution.
What You'll Do (Day-to-Day)
  • Run targeted SEO audits on priority partner sites and key lovingly.com surfaces
  • Translate audits into:
    • Clear task lists for Digital Marketing Specialists
    • Simple, action-ready checklists for Online Business Coaches
    • Well-defined tickets for Engineering via product/COO when technical changes are needed
  • Design and maintain templates for:
    • Local and store pages
    • Core landing pages and collections
    • High-intent SEO surfaces on lovingly.com
  • Own local SEO hygiene for top partners:
    • GBP category and content setup
    • NAP consistency and basic citations
    • URL + UTM standards for tracking
  • Set up and maintain SEO reporting across:
    • GA4, Search Console, and core dashboards
    • Partner-level scorecards where applicable
  • Use AI tools as a default part of your workflow to:
    • Draft and refine copy at scale
    • Generate briefs, QA checklists, and variant tests
    • Analyze search trends, logs, and performance patterns
  • Experiment with answer engine / AI assistant visibility (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and turn learnings into practical tests for Lovingly and our partners

How You'll Work With Others
COO & Marketing Leadership
  • Align on which partners, markets, and lovingly.com surfaces matter most
  • Prioritize where you personally go deep vs. where Specialists/Coaches execute under your standards

Digital Marketing Specialists
  • Provide clear briefs, templates, and definitions of "done" for SEO-related work
  • Review and approve SEO-critical changes before they ship

Online Business Coaches
  • Equip them with simple, actionable SEO checklists for florists
  • Turn field conversations into real improvements in listings and onsite content

Engineering & Product
  • Create clear, concise technical SEO requests
  • Validate implementations when they go live and ensure tracking remains clean

You'll Thrive in This Role If You...
  • Have strong, hands-on SEO experience with clear wins (bonus: multi-site or platform experience)
  • Operate with a current understanding of SEO (2025-level thinking, not 2018 playbooks)
  • Are deeply curious about how SEO interacts with AI assistants and answer engines
  • Are comfortable owning both strategy and execution - you can design systems and do the work
  • Use AI and analytics tools as a core part of your process, not an afterthought
  • Can create clarity from ambiguity and move work forward without waiting for perfect specs
  • Are able to clearly communicate:
    • What you're doing
    • Why it matters
    • What you're seeing in the data

This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If...
  • You need detailed step-by-step direction to feel confident shipping work
  • You prefer a narrow scope (e.g., "just content" or "just technical audits")
  • You're attached to older SEO playbooks and not actively tracking changing SERPs and AI behavior
  • You're looking for a pure strategy role or need direct reports to feel effective

Role Structure
  • Role type: Individual contributor
  • Reports to: COO
  • Location: Hybrid - regular in-person collaboration in our Hudson Valley office (Hopewell, NY) with flexibility for remote deep work days

Benefits
Compensation Bands
  • Level 1: $75K-$110K + potential bonus/stipend
  • Level 2: $110K-$150K + potential bonus/stipend
  • Level 3: $150K-$200K + larger potential bonus/stipend tied to impact

Level determined by demonstrated cross-domain impact and AI implementation capability
Benefits & Work Environment
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive health insurance, dental, vision
  • Time Off: 22 days PTO + holidays + 4 Floating holidays
  • Retirement: 401(k) with company match up to 3%
  • Equipment: Latest Mac laptop

Work Location: Hybrid model - we don't care where you live as long as you can get to our Hopewell Junction, NY office for collaboration and strategic sessions
How to Apply
Apply directly through Workable with your resume and a brief note including:
  • One SEO project you're proud of
  • The levers you pulled (technical, content, local, etc.)
  • The measurable impact it had

If you're energized by the idea of architecting how an entire ecosystem wins in search - across local, web, and AI assistants - we'd love to hear from you.
