Job description

Job Title: Teacher’s Aide

Job Overview:

The Teacher's Aide supports the lead teacher in delivering a positive and productive learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting with lesson preparation, classroom management, and individualized student support to foster a nurturing educational experience focusing on safety and supervision.


Individuals who enjoy working with young children, demonstrate patience, and maintain reliable attendance will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
  • Comply with DHS Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules.
  • Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials.
  • Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
  • Assist with mealtime preparations and nap-time support.
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
  • Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness such as cleaning, sanitizing, toileting, and diapering, plus managing supplies and resources.
  • Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus.
  • Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs.
  • Use positive modeling and behavior management.
  • Follow school policies and procedures (maintain confidentiality).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and have some experience working with young children.
  • Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
