Job description

Construction Tech | Growing Sales Team | Kansas City

About RIVET

RIVET is how construction labor gets to work. RIVET's software platform transforms the way contractors manage, plan, schedule, and deploy crews in one unified platform. The RIVET team is passionate about leveraging technology to champion the skilled trades, accelerate digital transformation, and make construction an industry of choice for a new generation entering the workforce.

The Role

As a Business Development Representative at RIVET, you'll drive pipeline growth in your territory. You've already proven you can do this work. Here, you'll bring that experience to a market that's largely untapped, most prospects in your patch haven't heard from us yet; but a core customer base is established to build upon. These groups need help; but are unaware there is a solution made for them- your job is to change that. Turn that opportunity into real momentum for our sales team and eventually start leading organizations through sales processes at RIVET as part of your growth.

Day to day, you'll dig into research, qualify leads, and book meetings with the people who actually make buying decisions. You'll get out from behind the desk too, representing RIVET at in-person events across your territory. You'll work closely with a small and sharp territory team (pipeline and sales members), while still reporting directly to our VP of Revenue, so you're never far from the person setting the strategy, and you'll own how you build and run your pipeline.

This role is a direct step toward becoming an Account Executive, based on performance and opportunity as we scale.

What You'll Do
  • Research and qualify inbound and outbound leads to build a consistent pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Book meetings with decision-makers who match our ideal customer profile
  • Represent RIVET at industry events and in-market visits to build relationships and generate new opportunities
  • Keep CRM records accurate and current for every lead and prospect you work
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Sales to keep the pipeline moving and share what you're learning about lead quality
  • Build your knowledge of RIVET's product and market as you grow toward a selling role
What You'll Bring
  • A bachelor's degree. We don't require a specific major, but we do value the critical thinking and communication skills that come from seeing one through
  • 2 to 4+ years of outbound business development experience (SDR, BDR, or equivalent outbound-focused title)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort representing RIVET face-to-face with prospects, whether that's a client meeting or an industry event
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for in-person prospecting and events
  • Ability to work in-office most of the week (with earned remote flexibility as you hit targets)
Even Better
  • Entrepreneurship experience, whether through a degree, coursework, a club, or a leadership program
  • A marketing degree or coursework
  • Construction management or construction science coursework
  • A background in competitive athletics or another high-repetition, competitive pursuit requiring a tenacious spirit
  • Experience with HubSpot or another CRM
  • Prior exposure to or connections within the construction industry
Benefits to Help You Bring Your Best Self to Work
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) matching
  • Employee stock option program
  • Commuter (parking) benefits
  • Vacation and paid holidays
  • Free weekly lunches

RIVET believes in putting our people first and building a diverse team is at the front of everything that we do. We welcome people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and celebrate the diversity of our growing team.
