Job description

Furtado & Associates, Inc. (F&A) is a leading consulting engineering, land surveying and construction management firm in Seattle, WA. We are a small, privately held firm that works on transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound area, including Sound Transit's Link Light Rail Extensions and numerous projects for WSDOT and SDOT. Our busy office currently has an opportunity for a professional and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Civil Engineer. In this position, the successful applicant will be responsible for working with the Project Manager to ensure project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join an established and dynamic organization that is experiencing significant growth.
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Civil Engineer will work under the direction of the Project Manager, assisting on large engineering projects. F&A works primarily on large public works projects in the Seattle area, and in this role you will be helping our clients deliver on these important projects.
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage and oversee project deliverables to ensure that client expectations are being met
  • Continually coordinate with Engineering staff and all other departments
  • Review and process drawings and submittals
  • Review plans and specifications
  • Perform engineering calculations and design
  • Assist with writing project specifications
  • Assist with preparing engineering/technical documents
  • Preparation of plans using CADD
  • Assist in preparing exhibits for public meetings
  • Perform research and review of agency standards
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Manager

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering
  • EIT or WA State PE
  • 6 or more years of experience in civil engineering
  • Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint programs
  • Ability to quickly learn other supporting software a plus
  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering, land surveying or construction
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and able to complete assignments quickly and in a timely fashion
