Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer

Location: West Bend, WI

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Compensation: Approximately $75,000 base salary plus team-based gross profit bonus potential. Strong performers can realistically earn $100,000+ total compensation.


About the Opportunity

AutoShop Recruiting is partnered with a trusted independent repair shop in West Bend, WI, to hire a strong Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer. This is a growth-minded shop that is investing heavily in process, people, facility improvements, advertising, and a modern customer experience.

This is not a sit-behind-the-counter role. The right advisor will be a confident communicator, strong salesperson, and active workflow partner who is comfortable moving around the shop, supporting inspections, presenting value clearly, and helping the team execute a high-accountability key-to-key operating model.


What You'll Do

  • Greet customers, answer phones, build trust quickly, and create a professional first impression
  • Write repair orders, document concerns, and keep workflow organized in Tekmetric
  • Support digital inspections, photos, videos, Rack Attack-style inspections, and customer education
  • Present estimates clearly, overcome objections with integrity, and close needed repair and maintenance work
  • Work closely with technicians, the general service team, and leadership to keep vehicles moving
  • Help support daily Take 5 meetings, scripts, process discipline, and continuous improvement
  • Drive average repair order, gross profit, customer experience, and team-based performance
  • Stay active in the shop instead of waiting passively at the counter


What We're Looking For

  • Experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Service Consultant, Assistant Manager, or Service Manager
  • Strong sales ability with the confidence to present repairs and build value
  • Comfortable with phones, customer updates, workflow management, and technician communication
  • Leadership potential and willingness to help reinforce shop process and morning Take 5s
  • Process-oriented mindset with openness to scripts, AI-assisted practice, DVI, and key-to-key operating systems
  • High energy, accountability, professionalism, and team-first attitude
  • Tekmetric experience is a plus; strong DVI/shop-management-system experience is also valuable
  • Valid driver's license


Shop Environment

  • Independent repair shop serving West Bend since 2008
  • Monday-Friday hours with no weekend shop schedule listed
  • 4 bays plus alignment rack and dedicated inspection hoist/rack
  • Approximately 50 cars per week with recent revenue growth and significant upside
  • Tekmetric shop management system
  • ASE-certified technician capability and 36-month/36,000-mile TechNet warranty
  • Services include diagnostics, electrical, brakes, A/C, suspension, alignment, maintenance, gasoline/diesel, 4x4, domestic, Asian/import, and European vehicles


Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximately $75,000 base salary, depending on experience
