Job description

A Busy ophthalmology practice located in West Hartford (with 9 satellite locations) seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe, that is detail-oriented and a team player to join our friendly work environment. Completely computerized office including electronic medical records.
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Document the Physician's findings in the patients Electronic Medical Record
  • Transcribe the impression and plan, results of tests, prescriptions, discussions, and orders as dictated by the Physician
  • Anticipate the needs of the Physician and patients as often as possible to help with patient flow
  • Administer patient eye drops as requested by the Physicians
  • Assist the Physicians with office procedures
  • Assist with patient education
  • Ensure that the patients visit, and all diagnostic testing has been properly coded on the patients encounter form
  • Willing to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice; Master within 6 months
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean workspace
  • Willing to travel to other satellite offices as needed. (Reliable transportation required)
  • Assist with other assigned tasks not limited to the Clinical Department as directed by Clinical Leaders and SEC Management
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task while handling stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Be a team player and maintain a professional and positive attitude
  • Study the CPSS Home Study Modules and pass the CPSS exam within 6 months of hire
  • Maintain a professional appearance as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information as it relates to patients and staff members
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's Preferred)
  • One-year medical terminology (Preferred)
  • One-year experience in Ophthalmology or medical setting (Preferred)
