What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in screen printing, and why are they important?

To thrive in screen printing, you need strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and an understanding of color theory and print techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant vocational training. Familiarity with screen printing equipment, inks, and sometimes digital design software like Adobe Illustrator is typically required. These abilities ensure high-quality prints, efficient workflow, and successful collaboration with colleagues and clients.

What are some common challenges faced in screen printing?

Working in screen printing often involves managing tight deadlines and large orders, which can be physically demanding due to repetitive tasks and long periods on your feet. Achieving consistent print quality across batches requires close attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot issues like ink smudging or screen misalignment.
