What You'll Do:

If you're dependable, safety-focused, and enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you. As a Production teammate, you'll support daily yard operations by handling material, assisting customers, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe, efficient worksite. Your work directly impacts production, safety, and customer experience. 

Duties of the role include but are not limited to: 

  • Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures and actively participate in safety meetings and programs 
  • Perform general labor duties including sweeping, shoveling, housekeeping, and yard clean-up 
  • Assist with weighing, sorting, inspecting, and moving scrap materials throughout the yard 
  • Inspect incoming scrap and vehicles, advising customers of accepted and non-accepted materials 
  • Take material deductions as required based on inspection results 
  • Operate forklifts and other yard equipment as trained (experience a plus) 
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service in a fast-paced, outdoor environment 
  • Willingness to cross-train in other positions and assist teammates as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

 Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

What We're Looking For:

Required: 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment  
  • Minimum 1 year of general labor experience in manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or scrap/recycling environments preferred  
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift  
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and occasionally lift/carry/push/pull 15-25lbs. 
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and be exposed to weather 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and complete tasks safely without constant supervision  
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic  
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required   
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening (urine and hair follicle) and background check  

Preferred:  

  • Forklift experience  
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)  
  • Prior experience in scrap metal, construction, or heavy industrial environments 
  • Candidates within a 50 miles radius of location preferred.
