Commercial Manager - Metal Recycling - Base Salary to 165k/year - Philadelphia, PA

  • Our client, a heavy industrial metals processor, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead scrap metal purchasing and supplier development across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role is responsible for securing a consistent supply of scrap metals from industrial accounts, scrap dealers, demolition projects, and other material generators for resale and mill processing.
  • The Commercial Manager will expand existing business and develop new supplier relationships while evaluating scrap material quality, grades, and market value; negotiating pricing and contracts; and monitoring commodity and metals market conditions. This position requires direct non-ferrous metals experience and knowledge of different non-ferrous metal types, grades, and market values.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and source new suppliers of scrap materials, including industrial accounts, businesses, demolition projects, scrap dealers, and other scrap generators
  • Develop and expand an existing supplier territory and book of business throughout the Mid-Atlantic region
  • Evaluate the quality, grade, composition, and market value of scrap metals, with an emphasis on non-ferrous materials
  • Negotiate scrap purchasing prices, supplier agreements, and contracts based on commodity pricing, material grades, market conditions, and profitability
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new supplier and account opportunities
  • Monitor commodity prices, metals markets, scrap pricing, and regional market conditions to support purchasing decisions
  • Coordinate transportation, logistics, weighing, sorting, and processing of purchased materials
  • Ensure adherence to applicable industry regulations, safety requirements, and environmental standards
  • Develop a strategic plan and roadmap for commercial business growth, territory development, and supplier expansion

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of scrap metal experience
  • Experience building and expanding an existing territory, supplier network, or book of business
  • Background in sales or purchasing within the scrap metal or metal recycling industry
  • Experience with non-ferrous metals, including knowledge of different metal types, grades, material identification, and market value
  • Experience negotiating scrap metal pricing, purchasing agreements, supplier contracts, or commercial terms
  • Knowledge of scrap metal markets, commodity pricing, and material valuation

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 135k - 165k/year range plus bonus. Our client also offers competitive health and life benefits & 401k. Relocation assistance is available.
