Job description


The Senior SQL / Reporting Developer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining LifeSafer's reports for internal reporting and data delivery systems. This position works closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable ,performant, and scalable reporting solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, C#, and LifeSafer's custom internal reporting framework.This role requires deep expertise in SQL development, strong reporting and data modeling skills, C# development experience, and the ability to operate independently on complex systems while mentoring other developers and influencing technical direction.
Experience and Skills
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server-based reporting solutions
* Integrate reporting into internal and external systems using C#
* Build and optimize stored procedures, views, and supporting database objects for reporting & analytics
* Develop and maintain SSRS reports for:
  • Automated delivery (scheduled subscriptions, PDF/email distribution)
  • Integration into internal and external web applications

* Implement reporting solutions using LifeSafer's custom internal reporting framework using both SQL and C#
* Partner with other development teams to integrate and understand reporting data into application workflows
* Analyze large datasets to support compliance, operations, and business decision-making
* Perform advanced ad-hoc and investigative queries for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Ensure reporting accuracy, performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability
* Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues related to queries, reports, and data pipelines
* Review and improve existing reporting solutions, queries, and database designs
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and analysts
* Participate in architectural discussions related to data access, reporting strategy, and system evolution
Skills/Abilities:
* Advanced queries (CTEs, window functions, indexing strategies, performance
* tuning)
* Strong experience developing SSRS reports, including parameterized reports and
* automated delivery
* Proven experience building or working within custom reporting frameworks or data
* platforms
* Strong experience using C# to integrate reporting into internal and external systems
* Strong understanding of relational data modeling and reporting-oriented schema design
* Ability to independently own and deliver complex reporting initiatives end-to-end
* Experience supporting large, business-critical reporting systems
* Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven environments
* Experience mentoring junior developers or acting as a technical lead
* Exposure to performance monitoring and optimization of high-volume reporting workloads
Education and Experience:
* 8+ years of professional SQL Server development experience
* 5+ years of professional experience in C# development
* SQL Server 2016 or later strongly preferred
* Experience collaborating with application developers, particularly in C# / .NET
environments
* Extensive experience writing and maintaining:
  • Complex
