Position Summary
Scientific Games LLC is looking for a self-motivated, highly experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to be focused onour Tableau based BI solution as well as other SQL Server Databases. The DBA is responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The team also builds and maintains large-scale and very high transaction SQL Server databases on Windows Server platforms. You will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.
Senior SQL Server DBA Responsibilities
  • Provision and configure SQL Server instances for both new and existing products.
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain replication strategies.
  • In depth analysis of performance, identification of areas of improvement, and implementation planning.
  • Prepare documentation, procedures, and specifications.
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • 24x7 Support of Production DB's

Senior SQL Server DBA Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in SQL Server
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server database management and administration including with large scale SQL Server databases.
  • Hands on experience implementing and maintaining Always On Availability Groups is required. Knowledge of additional replication models in a plus.
  • Hands on experience implementing and maintaining SQL Server encryption models including TDE, Always Encrypt, SSL connections, etc.
  • Experience working with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ETL jobs.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server features such as partitioning, query store, Column Store indexing, etc.
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL/T-SQL queries and jobs.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
  • Monitoring and alerting solutions
  • Knowledge of limitations in SQL Server and workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and working knowledge of common protocols such as SFTP, SMTP, DNS, and HTTP/S
  • Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux
  • Able to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences with 10+ years administering and maintaining SQL Server OR
  • Master's degree with 8+ years' experience.
  • Certified SQL Server DBA is a plus.

Years of experience 5 to 8 years
It would also be advantageous if you had any of the following experience:
  • Knowledge and experience with
    • Tableau
    • Code versioning tools such as Git/GitLab
    • Other popular database engines such as MySQL, Percona, MariaDB
    • Windows Server Administration
    • Scripting - PowerShell, Python, and shell scripting are all good
    • Zabbix
  • Industry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming
