Your Role:
As an Associate Director Scientific Communications, you will lead the development and execution of high-quality publications, medical education, and scientific communication materials aligned with the North America Medical Affairs strategy. This includes creating compliant customer-facing and internal resources, translating scientific data into clear and audience-appropriate content, and supporting strategic and tactical publication plans across the product lifecycle. The role partners cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and other stakeholders, with a primary focus on US initiatives and potential North America or global adaptation, while driving process improvements and expanding the impact of Medical Communications.
This is a hybrid role based out of LEO's Madison, NJ office.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development and execution of strategic and tactical publication and Medical Education plans across the product lifecycle, including manuscripts, congress abstracts, posters, symposium presentations, and related scientific communication and medical education deliverables aligned with North America and global medical plans.
- Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Field Medical/MSLs, Medical Information, Brand, Global teams, and other stakeholders to identify customer needs, educational gaps, emerging trends, and priority scientific topics, translating insights into clear, accurate, balanced, and audience-appropriate materials.
- Provide scientific content development, editorial support, literature reviews, competitive intelligence, and critical analysis to ensure materials are scientifically accurate, strategically aligned, balanced, and compliant.
- Support scientific content development for major medical meetings, congresses, advisory boards, medical education programs, and other external engagement opportunities.
- Assist in the development and execution of Medical Education and Training strategies and plans for assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment with North America Medical Affairs objectives.
- Track, analyze, and report insights, KPIs, metrics, and outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of medical education and scientific communication initiatives and inform continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with external medical communications agencies, publication vendors, and medical education partners to manage timelines, deliverables, quality, and execution of scientific materials and programs.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by developing tools, templates, best practices, and quality improvement approaches that enhance efficiency, consistency, and impact across publications, medical education, and scientific communications.
- Support disease awareness and medical education amplification efforts, including the development of social media content where appropriate and compliant.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree (PharmD or PhD) in biosciences or related fields is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs as publications lead &/or publications medical writer or 7 years with publications/ medical communication agency experience.
- Experience with Pharma publication planning is required.
- Experience in launch planning and execution of launch related Medical/Medical Communications tactics
- Omnichannel publications and medical education expertise is preferred.
- Ability to conduct focused literature searches on topics relevant to disease areas that LEO Pharma is engaged.
- Familiarity and application of AMA Manual of style; knowledge of scientific publications regulations & best practices
- Basic knowledge of clinical development processes & appropriate application of biostatistics; proficiency using standard software suites
- Familiarity and application of reference organization programs.
- Ability to travel including major congresses approximately 20%.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $180,000-230,000 per year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the LEO Pharma range for this position. Salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
