Job description

Purpose and Scope

 The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Oncology and Men’s Health, is a field-based medical affairs professional responsible for advancing high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange with external experts, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. The role serves as a trusted scientific resource across oncology and men’s health and additional therapeutic areas as the company grows. In this role you will support the Medical Affairs team and cross-functional brand partners by participating in evidence-based decision-making, identifying medical, scientific and clinical insights in a timely fashion and contribute to medical strategy across the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has brings strong scientific, medical or clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, experience with publications or scientific content development, and a commitment to compliant, accurate, and timely medical information support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement and External Stakeholder Management
  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, investigators, academic centers, and relevant professional organizations.
  • Deliver balanced, accurate, and non-promotional scientific exchange on disease state, clinical data, real-world evidence, treatment pathways and guidelines, and unmet needs in oncology and men’s health.
  • Identify, gather, and communicate actionable medical insights to inform medical strategy, evidence generation, education priorities, and cross-functional planning.
  • Support advisory boards, congress activities, speaker development, educational initiatives, and investigator engagement in accordance with applicable policies, regulations and brand needs in a timely fashion.
Publications and Scientific Content Support
  • Monitor evolving research, congress updates, treatment trends, and stakeholder perspectives to identify implications for medical strategy and patient care.
  • Translate complex clinical and scientific evidence into clear, audience-appropriate discussions while preserving scientific integrity and compliance.
  • Contribute to publication planning activities, including identification of evidence gaps, congress abstract opportunities, manuscript concepts, manuscript development and data communication opportunities.
  • Collaborate with medical affairs, clinical, biostatistics, and external authors to support development of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, slide decks, and scientific communication materials.
  • Review scientific content for accuracy, balance, clarity, and alignment with approved data, product label and publication standards.
  • Support interpretation and communication of clinical trial results, real-world evidence, health outcomes research, and investigator-sponsored research outputs.
Medical Information Support
  • Serve as a dedicated scientific resource for medical information support, including development, review, and maintenance of standard response documents, frequently asked questions, medical letters, and scientific background materials.
  • Respond to escalated or complex unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals in a timely, accurate, balanced, and compliant manner.
  • Collaborate with medical information, pharmacovigilance, regulatory, legal, and commercial colleagues to ensure responses are scientifically rigorous and aligned with company policies.
  • Identify recurring inquiry trends and communicate insights to inform medical education, field training, content development, and evidence-generation priorities.
Internal Collaboration and Compliance
  • Partner with medical affairs leadership and cross-functional teams to execute medical plans, field strategy, training initiatives, and evidence dissemination activities.
  • Support internal training activities by developing and delivering scientific training, disease-state education, product data updates, congress debriefs, and medical information process guidance for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing scientific updates to ensure organizational understanding of therapeutic area developments, clinical data, stakeholder insights, and implications for medical strategy.
  • Operate with the highest standards of ethics, scientific integrity, and compliance with applicable laws, industry codes, company policies, and non-promotional medical affairs practices.
  • Document activities, insights, project outcomes, and stakeholder engagements accurately and in accordance with company requirements.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate clinical trial data, real-world evidence, treatment guidelines, and peer-reviewed literature.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt complex scientific content for different audiences.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing field-based responsibilities, travel, multiple priorities, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with scientific databases, publication tracking, customer relationship management systems, and standard business software.
  • Bilingual skills in English and French are preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree preferred, such as PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc, NP, PA, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in medical affairs, clinical practice, clinical research, publications, medical information, or a related pharmaceutical industry role is preferred.
  • Experience in oncology, men’s health, urology, prostate cancer, endocrinology, or related therapeutic areas is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting publications, scientific communications, medical writing, or knowledge translation is preferred.
  • Prior MSL or field medical experience is an asset, particularly in a specialty care or oncology environment.

Working Conditions

  • This role is remote and based in Ontario.
  • Overnight travel is required up to 60%, to attend conferences, meetings, and business meetings with customers.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Combination of Flexible, remote work and Office environment; requiring sitting and standing
  • Travel by air as required
  • Availability to work extra hours and on weekends as necessary
