Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Full-Time Permanent
Coos Bay, OR
Hourly Pay: $38.66 – $57.38 (based on experience)
Shift Type: Varied


Position Overview

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join a high-quality clinical laboratory team in Coos Bay, Oregon. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering competitive pay, varied shifts, and the chance to work in a collaborative healthcare environment that values accuracy, professionalism, and patient safety.


Education / Certifications / Licenses – REQUIRED
  • Must meet all current qualifications outlined under Clinical Laboratory Personnel Requirements as defined by:

    • CLIA-88 (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act of 1988)

    • Oregon Department of Human Services Regulations

    • College of American Pathologists (CAP)

    • Joint Commission standards

    • Note: CAP reserves the right to set requirements more stringent than CLIA-88

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science

    • Copy of academic degree or transcript will be required upon hire


Experience – REQUIRED

Working knowledge of, including but not limited to:

  • Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS)

  • Specialized automated analyzers

  • Centrifuges, pipettors, microscopes

  • Pevco pneumatic tube system


Physical / Mental / Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently

  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds

  • Must follow standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids

  • Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking (in person and by telephone)

  • Requires frequent use of a personal computer

  • Must demonstrate manual dexterity
