What'sthe role?

Shell Canada is seeking aRemediationProject Manageralso knownas Program Manager to join itsSoiland GroundwaterSolutionsteam(SGWS).The SGWS Program Manageris responsible forsafely managing environmental liabilities,deliveringSGWSsite assessment,remediationand monitoringprojectsas part ofsustainableriskmanagement program withintheassignment area.Theportfolio may includedelivering SGWS projects formultipleLinesof Business (LoBs)(i.e., Post Closing Rights and Obligations, Mobility, Chemicals, Products, Trading & Supply, Lubricants, etc.)across variouswesternCanadianprovinces.This role can work virtually, the team member will ideallyresidein Alberta, but other western Canadian provinces will be considered.

Whatyou'llbe doing

Accountabilities:

  • Drivea Health Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)performance culture with SGWSconsultants and their subcontractors using Learner Mindset, Human Performance, and other approaches toensure safe project delivery
  • Manageahigh volumeportfolio ofprojects across multiplewestern Canadianprovinces ranging frominitialenvironmental site assessment through remedial action planning, implementation,monitoring, and regulatory closure
  • Develop risk management strategies for reducingsoil and groundwaterliability in a portfolio across multipleLoBs(i.e., Post Closing Rights and Obligations, Mobility, Chemicals, Products, Trading & Supply, Lubricants, etc.), includinghighly complexprojects, due diligence, and sites in litigation
  • The portfolio may also includehydrocarbonwell plug and abandonment projects, experiencewiththese types of projects would be an asset
  • Lead and implementcountrywideHSSEinitiatives and campaigns asleadfocal point
  • Develop andmaintainrelationships with internal stakeholders for applicableLoBs,developing adeep understanding of business drivers to developappropriate, sustainable risk management strategies
  • Manage financial approvals and spend with environmental consultants to ensure compliancewith financial authorizations
  • Coordinate provincial advocacy efforts to influence regulations, supportdevelopmentand approval of sustainable risk-based approaches


What you bring

  • The candidate must have legal authorization to work in the Canada on a full-time basis
  • Engineering/Science Degree, preferably in geology/hydrogeology/engineering discipline.A professional designation in your discipline would be an asset.
  • 6or more years of experience in environmental project management,site assessment,remediation, and risk and liability management, managing scope, schedule, cost, safety for soil and groundwater projects inwesternCanada
  • Experience working across multiplewesternCanadian regulatoryjurisdictions, understandingsoil and groundwaterregulations,establishingcredibility and trusted working relationships withsoil and groundwaterregulatorstodrivesustainable, risk-based approachesin order tomove sites to closure.
  • Experience with HSSE leadership,understanding of HSSE risks and mitigations (processes, procedures, behaviors) specifically related project field execution to ensure safe delivery ofSGWS projects
  • Proven record of contract management experience,managing / improving contractor performance on complex projects
  • Skilled at Business Partnering and negotiation/advocacy with external stakeholders (e.g., regulators)
  • It would be anadditionalasset if the candidate hasan understanding at a project manager levelofhydrocarbonwellPlug & Abandonment(P&A)requirementsacross Western Canada
  • Negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple businesses and functions
  • Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills

The base salary range for this position is $106,000 - $159,000 per year. Individual pay will be based onvarious factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
