Guardians of Honor (GOH) is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are seeking experienced STEM education professionals to support the operation of our DoD STARBASE Academy client at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.ย 


GOH is recruiting in anticipation of potential future openings that are subject to final approval and funding. No guarantee of position availability can be made at this time; however, candidate identification and preliminary interviews are being conducted to support timely hiring should authorization be granted.ย 


Position Overviewย 

The Program Instructor organizes and manages classrooms, delivers instruction across all areas of the STARBASE STEM curriculum, maintains records and files, and supports the Director with day-to-day program operations, development, and implementation.ย 


Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Prepare materials, lesson scripts, classrooms, and activities for instruction, utilizing classroom smart technology where appropriate; save backups to external hard drivesย 
  • Provide instruction in all areas of the STARBASE curriculum (sciences, technology, engineering, math, and STEM careers) for studentsย 
  • Work as a team with other instructors to prepare lessons, daily class schedules, and instructionย 
  • Assist in developing new curriculum lessons correlated with state and national objectives for submission to the curriculum committeeย 
  • Conduct and evaluate all pre/post testsย 
  • Assist and mentor visiting instructors who participate in STARBASEย 
  • Participate in completion ceremoniesย 
  • Collect data necessary to evaluate program effectiveness; maintain digital student workbooksย 
  • Assist in maintaining program documentation (photos, press releases, announcements) and select/prepare materials purchase requestsย 
  • Assist in verifying material shipments, updating inventories, and putting away suppliesย 
  • Perform classroom, break room, and office maintenance and cleaning: assist with other duties as assigned by the Director in support of mission successย 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM field or educationย 
  • At least 3 years of experience in elementary education (preferred)ย 

Additional Qualificationsย 

  • Knowledge of internet-based toolsย 
  • Ability to recognize and implement effective teaching practices and classroom management skillsย 
  • Ability and willingness to maintain quality communication and effective relationships with military and civilian personnel, district school teachers, students, parents, and volunteersย 
  • Availability to represent the program at initial and annual training conferencesย ย 
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid certification requiredย 
  • Completion of criminal history background checkย 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.ย 


Reports to: STARBASE Directorย 


Work Environment: Onsite at the DoD STARBASE facility; Patrick Space Force Base (Satellite Beach, FL).ย 


Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing, including classroom setup and cleaning duties.ย 


Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time, non-exempt. Core hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.ย 


Travel: Approximately 10% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary.ย 


Required education and experience: Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years relevant experience preferred.ย
