About the role
Independently weigh prepared pulp for the analysis of geological samples. Uses correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following established safety rules and regulations and ALS best practices.
  • Report all safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager and participate in incident investigations when required.
  • Operate and maintain analytical balances in accordance with ALS procedures.
  • Accurately weigh pulp samples within ALS established weight ranges and standardized work instructions.
  • Inspect prepared pulp samples for poor homogeneity (non- uniform grain sizes)
  • Identify poorly prepared pulp samples and report to the supervisor or Manager.
  • Repost all quality concerns to supervisor including equipment problems and suspected sample mix-ups while weighing. Corrects the problem with assistance from supervisor.
  • Use Webview to locate, transport and update disposition of client samples by workorder or digestion run number.
  • Wash labware using correct lab procedures to prevent cross contamination and maintain a good circulation of available test tubes and racks.
  • Safely dispose sample solution waste using correct lab procedures.
  • Recommend ideas for safety, quality, or productivity improvements.
  • May create digestion run batches on Webview with assistance.
  • May assist in training new employees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager/ Supervisor.
