Job description

The Oldroyd Lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is seeking a reliable and organized individual to fill a part-time Research Assistant position. This role is expected to support the lab for 8 hours per week, with a regular schedule of 4 hours on Monday and 4 hours on Wednesday. The primary focus of this position is to assist with routine laboratory support tasks that are essential for maintaining day-to-day research operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning laboratory materials, glassware, and other items generated from routine media preparation and experiments
  • Washing and sterilizing laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Supporting general laboratory upkeep to maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Preparing media and stock solutions needed for experiments on an occasional basis
  • Assisting with other routine laboratory support tasks as needed

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to carry out routine tasks carefully and consistently
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory workspace
  • Experience with sterile technique or laboratory media preparation is preferred but not required
  • An interest in laboratory research or plant science is preferred but not required
