Job description

This position ensures the humane care and treatment of laboratory animals. The Technician is responsible for daily checks and treatment of animals marked as sick by staff which includes maintaining records of sick animals, treatments ordered by the attending veterinarian, notifications of principal investigators and their staff and monitoring animal room conditions as related to animal health and well-being. The technician is responsible for screening of rodent colonies for murine pathogens which includes collections and processing of samples for microbiology, serology, parasitology and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).

The technician will collect tissue samples during necropsies to ascertain cause of disease. The individual will provide technical assistance to research laboratories upon request.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Bachelor's Degree Biological Science Preferred
Experience
1 year experience in Biological Sciences Required
General Experience working with Filemaker Pro Preferred
Licenses
Assist Laboratory Animal Tech Preferred.
