Overview

SCI Technology, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for a CNC Programmer/Machinist for our Advanced Technology team. The successful candidate will create CNC programs for prototype/initial builds of new, innovative designs in the Aerospace and Defense market, generate the necessary machine setup and tooling instructions, and fabricate low volume quantities or assist machinist/operators in the fabrication of prototype hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Importing solid model CAD files into CAM software and generating machine code to machine parts in CNC milling machines and CNC lathes

  • Programming, material preparation, setup, and operation of CNC milling machines with a 5-axis trunnion

  • Programming, material preparation, setup, and operation of CNC lathe and mill turn

  • Programming, material preparation, setup, and operation of CNC water jet equipment

  • Prepare stock material for further machining operations

  • Regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, torque, and coolant flow

  • Perform in-process inspection

  • Create necessary setup and tooling documentation to direct the work of machinist/operator staff

  • Work to deadlines

  • Perform or direct other staff for periodic maintenance of machining equipment

Education/Experience
  • Programming CNC machines experience using CAM software required

  • 5 years minimum experience

  • Must have full understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T

  • Associate degree desirable

  • Certificate in machining desired

  • MasterCAM experience desired

  • Experience with Haas milling and turning equipment desired

  • SolidWorks design experience desired

  • Ability to understand the manufacturing process and make suggestions for improvement

  • Demonstrate strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects

  • Possess the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and the ability to work in a team environment
