Job description

Transportation Department Manager

Under the direction of the Manager of Transportation, candidate will implement policies and procedures related to the operation of a full service school transportation department; prepare routes and driver schedules for all school transportation services including home-to-school transportation, field trips, athletic trips; reassign scheduled service to meet the daily needs of the District using available resources; train new school bus driver candidates; provide for renewal training of the existing staff; create and present safety awareness training programs for transportation staff; maintain a variety of records and reports required for compliance with laws and regulations governing the operation of a school transportation system; maintain and report daily payroll records.

Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school. Minimum of five years experience driving a school bus; Special Pupil Activity Bus or industry experience in a supervisory position related to school bus operations. Successful completion of the California Department of Education, Transportation Unit School Bus Driver Instructor Program. Demonstrated office experience involving computers, typing and record keeping. Work history demonstrating dependability and reliability. No moving violations or chargeable accidents within the three years prior to application.

Licenses and other requirements: Possession of a California Commercial Driver's License class B with passenger endorsement; a valid California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate (restriction "1" is acceptable) with a valid medical certificate. Incumbent shall be in the District random drug testing program as required by current Department of Transportation Regulations.
