Job description

The Purchasing Administrator provides day-to-day transactional and administrative support to Tangent's direct purchasing function and reports to . This entry-level role owns the routine, high-volume mechanics of purchasing: order entry and confirmation, delivery follow-up, vendor correspondence, and purchasing-record upkeep in our ERP. Success in the role means accurate, on-time purchase orders, clean system data, and materials that arrive when production needs them. It is an ideal entry point for a detail-oriented, well-organized person looking to build a career in supply chain.
Requirements
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keeps purchase orders accurate and on time - placing and confirming orders in SyteLine against approved requisitions and agreed pricing, so the buyer and production can trust that the system reflects what was actually ordered and when it will arrive.
  • Protects material availability - following up with suppliers on acknowledgments, ship dates, and open orders, and clearing routine delivery, quantity, pricing, and invoice discrepancies with vendors and the receiving team before they interrupt production.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Comfort working in an ERP/MRP system for purchase-order entry, receipts, and maintaining item, pricing, and vendor records.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Outlook, for tracking open orders and managing daily correspondence.
  • A working grasp of basic purchasing mechanics (purchase orders, order acknowledgments, invoice and receipt matching), with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear, professional communication in English, written and verbal, with dependable judgment on when to resolve a routine issue and when to escalate to the buyer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years in purchasing, order entry, customer service, or a similar administrative role; ERP data-entry experience is a plus. Relevant on-the-job experience may substitute for formal education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Frequent, repetitive computer and data-entry work, primarily on-site in an office setting.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
