Job Summary

The incumbent serves as a staff member in the Katie School of Insurance and Risk Management (formally the Center for Insurance and Risk Management) and takes on a lead role in Katie School program coordination, including communications with internal and external stakeholders and manages logistics of all Katie School programming.
The incumbent works independently under the direction of the Katie School Director and works with other faculty, staff, and student workers in the Katie School. The incumbent will also work with the president of the student organization Gamma Iota Sigma in planning, marketing, communicating, creating, and facilitating, workshops, and speakers coming to campus.

Additional Information

The Katie School is a Center in the College of Business that works in close collaboration with the Department of Finance, Insurance and Law (FIL) and also shares certain resources with them. The Department of FIL serves more than 800 students with two majors, Finance and Risk Management and Insurance, and two minors, Financial Planning and Risk Management and Insurance. The Katie School also supports the activities of a professional insurance fraternity, Gamma Iota Sigma, that includes students from across other majors, including actuarial science.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$32.31 - $34.87 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
2. Three (3) years (36 months) of full-time or part-time equivalent professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Proven ability to work with administrators, faculty, and staff, and other internal and external parties
2. Willingness to learn new technology to help market the program and make office work more efficiently.
3. Experience facilitating planning of a variety of programs for a number of different groups.
4. Experience in working with business professionals and organizations.

Work Hours

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Occasional work outside of these hours for events throughout the year.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
