What is a school operations associate?

School Operations Associates are professionals who support the smooth daily functioning of schools by handling administrative, logistical, and operational tasks. Their responsibilities often include managing student records, assisting with scheduling, coordinating events, handling communications, and supporting facilities management. They work closely with school leadership, teachers, and other staff to ensure the school runs efficiently and students have a safe, organized learning environment. Their role is essential in freeing up educators to focus more on instruction rather than administrative duties.

What are some common challenges school operations associates face when supporting school administrative functions?

School Operations Associates often juggle multiple priorities, such as coordinating schedules, managing supply inventory, and assisting with compliance paperwork. They may encounter challenges balancing urgent requests from staff or faculty while ensuring operational tasks are completed accurately and on time. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential, as the role frequently requires collaboration with teachers, administrators, and external vendors. Adaptability and proactive problem-solving help associates navigate the fast-paced, dynamic school environment.

Job description

Culture Operations Associate, Brooklyn, New York

In-Person Work Required

This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime.

WHO WE ARE

Explore Schools is a network of public charter schools providing nearly 1,700 students in Brooklyn with the outstanding education they deserve. Our goal is to provide students with curriculum and instruction that is both standards-aligned curriculum and culturally responsive. Our approach is designed to provide the conditions to nurture students as critical thinkers and natural problem-solvers. As an organization we are committed to engaging in work that disrupts and roots out systems and structures that perpetuate white supremacy. We intentionally seek to build and maintain a diverse and talented team that reflects the backgrounds and experiences of our students and creates an inclusive environment for all employees.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that all children can learn when immersed in a rich environment full of high expectations, rigorous academics, and caring, committed adults.
