Reports To: Program Director / School Manager

Pay Rate: $27-$30 per hour

Current SNAP class time: Saturday 2 PM-5/5:30 PM (subject to scheduling needs).

Required availability: Either Saturday or Sunday between 3 PM-8 PM.

Location: Aqua-Tots Swim School Orange

Position Summary

Aqua-Tots Swim School is seeking a part-time, compassionate, and patient swim instructor to teach our SNAP (Students Needing Adaptive Programming) swim lessons.

This role is perfect for paraprofessionals, special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational or behavioral therapists, or anyone working with or supporting children with disabilities who are looking for a part-time (5-10 hours a week) opportunity to use their existing skills in a new and fun way.

No prior swimming experience is required. We will provide comprehensive training in our curriculum and equip you with the tools to adapt it to your existing strengths and expertise with children with disabilities.

The SNAP Instructor is responsible for providing individualized swim instruction to children enrolled in Aqua-Tots' SNAP (Students Needing Adaptive Programming) program. This role focuses on water safety, swim skill development, and confidence-building in a supportive and adaptive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide swim instruction exclusively to students in the SNAP program.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs, abilities, and learning styles of each child.
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and inclusive environment during all lessons.
  • Communicate progress and goals with parents, caregivers, and guardians.
  • Maintain consistency and reliability in attendance and scheduling.
  • Follow Aqua-Tots' established safety protocols and curriculum standards.
  • Participate in required training and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children with disabilities (educational, therapeutic, or caregiving setting).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Ability to provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to students.
  • No prior swim instruction required; training will be provided.
  • Must be dependable and maintain 90% attendance throughout employment. Also available to work weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday, 3-8 PM).
  • NO seasonal availability. Must be available year-round.

  • Indoor, year-round swim facility with a heated 91 pool.
