PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • Follow routine maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, efficiency and pleasant campuses
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read and understand verbal instructions in English
  • Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited Institution preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook
  • Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook
  • Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools and equipment
  • Assume responsibility for personal time card
  • Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to assure the health and safety of students and staff
  • Maintain procedures for locking, safeguarding and checking exterior facilities
  • Maintain department schedules
  • Keep school grounds and exterior facilities, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean
  • Observe and inform supervisor of safety hazards
  • Comply with laws and procedures for disposal of trash
  • Make minor facility repairs and report major repairs as needed to foreman/supervisor
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and efficiency
  • Follow compliance with Occupational Health and Safety codes and standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman or grounds supervisor
  • Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
  • Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
  • Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor within your line of authority

SUPERVISORY RESPOSIBILITIES:

EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Uses mower, edger, cord trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, tiller, sod cutter, electric drill, electric saw and hand tools.

ENVIRONMENT:
  • Will work in, under, around, and outside of all AISD facilities, will be exposed to all outside conditions found in this region of Texas, exposure to dust, chemicals, and other materials and slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequent walking, standing, crouching, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching overhead and horizontally
  • Occasionally move objects up to 75 pounds; ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding ramps, poles
  • Use of tools/equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
  • Regularly operate a light truck or van
  • Work for sustained periods of time maintaining attention to detail
  • Walking over rough or uneven surfaces
