Keep Our Campus Beautiful: Groundskeeper 1 Needed! Montana Technological University is looking for a hardworking Groundskeeper 1 to maintain our beautiful campus in Butte, Montana.

DUTIES:
  • Grounds Cleaning: Clear trash across campus.
  • Snow Removal: Plow streets and shovel sidewalks.
  • Winter Traction: Apply sand to slick roads.
  • Turf Care: Mow, edge, and aerate lawns.
  • Plant Maintenance: Prune trees and plant greenery.
  • Weed Control: Weed flowerbeds and spray turf.
  • Soil Nutrition: Apply seasonal fertilizers to grounds.
  • Sprinkler Operation: Run and maintain irrigation systems.
  • System Winterization: Blow out lines before freezing.
  • Equipment Care: Service and repair landscaping tools.
  • Heavy Lifting: Move campus office furniture safely.
  • Event Prep: Set up chairs for graduation.
  • Student Leadership: Guide summer student work crews.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care;
  • Knowledge of operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment and tools;
  • One year or more gardening and groundskeeping duties.
  • Experience maintaining large grounds preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience repairing underground sprinkler systems.

Physical Demands:
  • Lift up to 50 pounds: Move heavy campus supplies like ice melt and fertilizer and other general groundskeeping materials.
  • May be required to Lift up to 75 pounds: Move heavy mailroom packages and furniture across campus.
  •  May be required to Lift over 150 pounds (with help): Work with teammates to move very large items.
  • Daily movement: Walk long distances across campus, bend down, kneel, and work outside in all weather.
