Job description

Dover Precision Components, part of Dover Corporation, is hiring an Operations Manager for our Cook Compression brand, located at our Jeffersonville, Indiana ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility. We deliver critical performance solutions for rotating and reciprocating machinery across several markets, including oil & gas.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Operations Manager provides leadership to ensure a safe and collaborative work environment, overseeing 1st shift CNC and manual machine production, managing a team of 3 supervisors directly and a total team of 70 team members (35 indirect), while partnering closely with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. The Operations Manager leads continuous improvement processes through CI activities, Lean initiatives, employee involvement, and communication.  And the Operations Manager understands and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and makes necessary adjustments for success. This role includes:

  • Motivates and inspires others, creating a culture that is committed to the highest ethical standards among all stakeholders in the organization and conducting its business with those standards.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for safety, productivity performance, delivery performance, financial profit and loss, and production quality at the manufacturing facility.
  • Manages labor relations and work proactively with union committee.
  • Coordinates resources to satisfy both internal and external customers to deliver superior products and quality service in a fast-paced environment that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Oversees daily Production and partners with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and other Teams to ensure production metrics are met safely and efficiently to meet or beat customer expectations.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain team to ensure effective planning of production to meet customer demands.
  • Champions process improvement and lean manufacturing activities; oversees the implementation of best practices across manufacturing operations.
  • Promotes the utilization of statistical and process visual measurements to manage the operation and deliver customer satisfaction and world class quality.
  • Directs, coaches, and develops managers; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning by leveraging strong problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Partners with Plant Manager to make operational adjustments as necessary by reviewing the P&L Statements, Sales Reports, and daily reports to ensure continued growth in productivity/efficiency.
  • Assists Plant Manager in developing & executing capital expenditure budgets and justifications.
  • Maintains productive relationships with external customers including marketing/commercial group, contractors, engineering, vendors, government agencies, and regulatory agencies.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in manufacturing operations leadership considered.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading unionized production/ manufacturing teams with strong background in ensuring goals are met or exceeded regarding safety, production, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management experience. Ability to create an environment that recognizes and maximizes the potential of all employees, and where cross-functional teamwork flourishes.
  • Experience in CNC, manual machines, and tooling.
  • ERP system experience, such as Syteline.

 

ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES

  • Master’s degree in Business or related field.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience with ISO or TS quality standards.
  • Prior ownership of plant P&L preferred.
  • Strong change management and continuous improvement experience or aptitude.
