Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $150,000.00 $180,000.00 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)

POSITION SUMMARY
The School Business Administrator/Board Secretary serves as the chief financial and operational officer of the district and is responsible for overseeing all business functions, financial management, facilities operations, transportation, food services, risk management, purchasing, and Board of Education support services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Superintendent, Board of Education, district administrators, staff, and community stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective district operations that support student achievement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as Board Secretary to the Board of Education and attend all Board meetings.
- Develop, monitor, and administer the district budget in collaboration with the Superintendent.
- Prepare and present financial reports, budget updates, and fiscal analyses to the Board of Education.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, insurance, and auditing functions.
- Administer state and federal grants and ensure compliance with all grant requirements.
- Direct and supervise facilities operations, maintenance, custodial services, transportation, and other support services as assigned.
- Coordinate capital improvement projects and facility planning initiatives.
- Manage district contracts, bids, and procurement processes in accordance with New Jersey statutes and regulations.
- Serve as liaison to auditors, attorneys, architects, engineers, and other professional service providers.
- Support collective bargaining processes and employee benefits administration.
- Advise the Superintendent and Board on financial, operational, and business matters affecting the district.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New Jersey School Business Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting principles, financial reporting procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience in budget preparation, administration, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Thorough understanding of New Jersey school law, administrative code, business regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with state and federal grants and reporting systems, including ESEA, IDEA, ASSA, SNEARS, DRTRS, and other applicable reporting requirements.
- Understanding of employee benefits administration, health insurance programs, and collective bargaining implications.
- Experience with facilities management, capital projects, school plant operations, custodial and maintenance services, and construction planning.
- Knowledge of purchasing, bid specifications, contract administration, and public procurement requirements.
- Familiarity with Board of Education procedures, policies, governance practices, and meeting administration.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with financial management software; experience with CSI, Genesis, Systems 3000, or similar school business software preferred.
- Prior successful experience in a New Jersey public school district preferred.
