Job description

POSITION: School Administrator
Salary Schedule: Administrative

FLSA: Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provides leadership to promote and sustain high academic achievement for all students and to successfully implement the District's strategic plan. Demonstrates thorough knowledge and application of instructional leadership standards, curriculum and assessment programs, operational management, and financial oversight. Promotes a positive school climate and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, families, community members, central office departments, and all internal and external stakeholders.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess (or meet qualifications for) a Georgia certificate in Educational Leadership or hold a Master's degree in an education-related field with completion of an Educational Leadership program within three (3) years. Minimum of three (3) years of successful educational experience required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provides leadership and assumes responsibility for school operations as assigned.
  2. Enforces district policies and procedures concerning student discipline and attendance.
  3. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  4. Keeps the Superintendent or designee apprised of activities, situations, and developments affecting school operations.
  5. Supervises, observes, and evaluates staff.
  6. Directs and supports curriculum development and instructional improvement.
  7. Plans and implements staff development initiatives.
  8. Oversees extracurricular programs and student activities.
  9. Safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of students.
  10. Supervises student activities, assemblies, and school events.
  11. Oversees maintenance and operations of the school facility.
  12. Organizes student orientation, registration, and scheduling.
  13. Administers and supervises the total school program in accordance with applicable regulations.
  14. Assists with and monitors financial operations of the school.
  15. Serves as a facilitator or member of District Student Disciplinary Due Process Hearing panels, as needed.
  16. Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in supervising personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional programs and school operations.
  • Understanding of school safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to supervise personnel effectively.
  • Ability to present information clearly to individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated operational and financial management skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires mostly sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and kneeling are required, with weights not normally exceeding thirty (30) pounds. Must be able to tolerate various weather conditions and work outside as needed.
