Job Summary: The Scheduling Assistant ensures timely, accurate, and complete performance of all department clerical responsibilities and functions.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of general medical office procedures and medical terminology. Effective skill in operating a computer. Sound interpersonal and oral communications skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in and effective manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs and completes department clerical responsibilities and functions. Answers, screens, and directs telephone calls and inquiries in a timely manner. Relays information to other staff members related to scheduling, as appropriate. Prepares correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents according to established protocols. Files documents, reports, and other correspondence according to established protocols.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
