Description

As a Forklift Operator with LDI, you will contribute by being a key player in safely moving goods and materials around a high traffic industrial environment. As a Forklift Operator you will help maximize efficiency of the production process by safely operating mobile equipment to move product and materials, accurately scan inventory in and out of the business, operating shrink wrap machines, fulfill shipments to customers and receive incoming deliveries.  

This full-time position reports directly to a Shipping Supervisor and is located at our Golden Valley, MN manufacturing facility.  
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Safely operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, lift trucks, hoists, or other material handling equipment in a high traffic industrial environment.
  • Accurately utilize an electronic scanning system to track inventory levels and product location.
  • Responsible for regularly completing pre-operation inspection and reporting equipment faults or damages to leadership or maintenance.
  • Pick orders and prepare shipments for transport, consolidate partial pallets, and operate the shrink wrap machine as needed.
  • Receive materials into the plant from suppliers and other Safco locations
  • Move product and/or materials throughout the facility, including loading and unloading trailers.
  • Follow safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must be stand-up and sit-down forklift certified (or willing to become).   
  • Previous experience with computer skills such as typing, printing, and data entry. 
  • Previous experience applying math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.   
  • Previous experience reading, following, and/or completing detailed work instructions.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
 
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 
  • 1+ year experience operating mobile equipment or comparable experience in place of education.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of distribution documentation: pick lists, packing slips, and bills of lading.
  • Knowledge of warehouse organization, workflow as well as basic inventory control.  
 
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 
The starting pay rate for this position is $26.62 per hour (if applicable) plus hourly shift differential pay.
