Scale House Operator


Are you looking for an opportunity to leverage your talents in a growing organization? We have excellent opportunities within Anchor Ingredients for people that have an entrepreneurial spirit, focus on problem solving, work independently or in team setting and bring a strong analytical skillset.


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for receiving, loading and milling product to meet Anchor Ingredients high quality standards, while ensuring the day-to-day production needs are met with minimal down time and maximum efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scaling Trucks

  • All inbound loads (dumping or parking on Dolly Pad - DP)
    1. Probe, test and scale all loads parked on Dolly Pad - DP
    2. Retain product samples on all loads – Properly mark retain sample bag
    3. Sweep scale by unloading pit after each load
    4. Enter test results in BCFoods
  • All outbound loads (live or preloaded)
    1. Scale, ensure correct product, quantity and destination
    2. Obtain sample, micro test and run on NIR, ensure COA and/or barcode if needed per customer requirements
    3. Scale out and get all paperwork completed and posted in a timely manner

Production

  • Check incoming belt throughout the day
    1. Make sure flow is sufficient to maximize cimbria needs
    2. Ensure product is not spilling by hole or running over belt into the leg pit
  • Blow out screens on destoner every 2 hours
  • Check hullers amperage and visual product quality every 2 hours
  • If product is accumulating on the floor or elsewhere troubleshoot to figure out why
  • Monitor baghouse reading throughout the day
  • Monitor hulls bin volume throughout the day
  • Walk around both dirty and clean bins to see if there are any problems developing
  • Check cimbria, destoner, hullers, roller mill and all other parts of production at least once per shift
  • Other Duties: mow lawn, shovel snow, move trailers, change screens and set up grinder, extra clean up and any other tasks that need to be completed around the facility as assigned

Housekeeping

  • Clean up any mess before going home for the day ensuring no personal belongings or garbage is left at workstations or other shared common areas
  • Sweep around the pit between loads and the entire scale once per shift
  • Put tools back in their places after each use
  • Disconnect air hoses when they are not in use
  • Take trash to dumpster with it is full
  • Other Duties: mow lawn, shovel snow, move trailers, extra clean up and any other tasks that need to be completed around the facility as assigned

General

  • Trouble shoot and communicate breakdowns to our Maintenance team and Supervisor
  • Repair minor issues, etc. replace drive belts & patch holes where and when able
  • Utilize all members of the team to accomplish tasks, holding yourself and others accountable for duties performed. Ask for help when needed.
  • Prioritize employee and food safety first, facility production second and dumping and loading trucks as the third priority.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to:
    1. lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    2. stand for extended periods of time
    3. work in dust
    4. open traps on trailers trucks
    5. work in confined spaces
    6. work at significant heights
