Harmon Scrap Metal is a fast-paced scrap yard focused on efficiency, safety, and treating people right. We work hard, move a lot of material, and rely on our team to keep things running smoothly every day.

Position Overview

The Scale Clerk is the first and last point of contact for our customers and drivers. Youโ€™ll be responsible for weighing trucks, entering tickets accurately, and keeping traffic flowing in and out of the yard. This is a detail-oriented job in a busy environment where things move quicklyโ€”accuracy matters.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Weigh all inbound and outbound loads using the scale system
  • Enter customer info, material types, and weights into the system accurately
  • Print and process scale tickets and receipts
  • Direct drivers where to go and keep traffic moving safely
  • Communicate with yard operators and office staff throughout the day
  • Answer phones and help customers at the scale window
  • Handle payments (if assigned) and balance transactions
  • Keep paperwork organized and up to date
  • Watch for discrepancies in loads or tickets and report issues
  • Follow all safety rules and company procedures
  • Restrict office access to authorized personnel only
  • Perform general housekeeping
  • Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management


RequirementsWhat Weโ€™re Looking For

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years previous customer service


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work standing or sitting for extended periods of time in an office environment
  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
