Role: Scale Clerk
Location: Clay Hill, Florida

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Scale Clerk Operator will be responsible for booking truck driver appointments and to control the trucks at the scale and in the yard. The operator is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
Compensation: Starting salary is $40,000.

Key Responsibilities:
• Receiving calls for booking appointments of truck drivers.
• Prepare and organize shipping documents and reports.
• Traffic controlling of trucks at the scale in in the yard.
• Investigate each weight variance alarm and summon Shipping personnel to investigate the matter as well.
• Refuse to release any unsafe load and report the matter to the Shipping Supervisor or Safety Coordinator immediately.
• Be thoroughly familiar with all the IKO Emergency Procedures. Respond to any emergency as detailed in the Emergency section of the Policies Manual.
• Report any employee, contractor, truck driver, visitor, etc., who is observed to be conducting themselves or working in an unsafe manner, or who is failing to use required safety equipment.
• Maintain all the necessary logbooks.
• Continuously check the Security system and the gate/area monitors to ensure that the security of the IKO premises is not compromised.
• Print the necessary scale tickets, bills of lading and custom papers for Truck Drivers. Obtain the necessary signatures and forward copies to the billing department.
• Complete an Occurrence Report for every Emergency, fire alarm, odor complaint, security breach, and report from contract security personnel, disturbance with truck drivers or any other unusual occurrence.
• Carry out Security rounds as scheduled, completing the required record and checks.
• Immediately report any potential or actual fire hazards observed during the Security rounds to the departmental Supervisor and submit a detailed Incident Report (C300) to the Mill Manager and Safety Coordinator. This also applies to any missing or defective fire hoses or extinguishers encountered on routine rounds.
• Record the issuance of keys, personal protective equipment, walkie-talkies, etc.
• Proper screening of employees on a daily basis following the Company's protocol.
• Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Must be able to multitask and have excellent organizational skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven Computer Skills with Outlook, Word, Excel, Copier, Scan, and Fax.
• Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically both verbally and in writing.
• Must be self-motivated, versatile, and able to make good use of time in slower periods by
supporting other departments as requested.
• Must be Customer focused (both internal and external) and have a good attitude.
Schedule:
Shifts may vary and will likely include evening hours. Overtime will be required, especially during the training period and during special buys set up by sales that may require extended scale hours. Occasional (typically quarterly for inventory) weekend work required.
Physical Requirements:
• Requires sitting at a computer 70% of shift and standing 30% of shift.
• Starting wage depending on experience.
