Job Summary:
Gulf Coast Industrial is currently seeking a Multicraft Scaffold/Insulator. This position must effectively and safely perform all duties required to erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolds. In addition, this position will apply, remove, and repair insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures, such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Other duties may be assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assembles, alters and dismantles scaffolds according to OSHA guidelines and manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Cooperates with Gulf Coast Industrial Project Manager and customers in carrying out assigned work.
  • Assist in loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
  • Direct the Helper/Laborer in proper work performance and job requirements.
  • At all times perform his/her work in the safest possible manner.
  • Immediately correct any unsafe condition.
  • Work at heights with no fear.
  • Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive application to insulation material.
  • Determine the amounts and selects required insulation material (in sheet, tubular, or roll form), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on the material's ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
  • Using a tape measure or other measuring device, measure and cut insulation material to a specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces, using handsaw, knife, or scissors.
  • Fit, wrap, or attach required insulation material around or to the structure, following blueprint specifications.
  • Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure - according to the type of insulation used and structure covered, using a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
  • Proactively identify any unsafe conditions or hazards and communicate them effectively.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:
  • The Scaffold Builder must be highly productive, experienced in his craft, and familiar with the use of all equipment, materials, and procedures necessary for the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of all types of scaffolds.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices.
  • The insulator must be highly productive and experienced in all phases of industrial insulation including installation, repair, and removal.
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
  • Driver's License Preferred
