Job description

 
This position is located at our Bayou La Batre, AL facility.  


Our Helpers are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis.  Some of your daily functions will include: 

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision
  • Assistwelders, fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as directed
  • Move, stage, and secure materials, tools, and equipment throughout the shipyard
  • Clean and prepare work areas, including ships, compartments, and shop spaces
  • Grind, chip, and remove slag, rust, paint, or debris as instructed
  • Set up and break down work platforms, scaffolding, and temporary structures
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision
  • Support hot work, confined space, and shipboard operations per safety procedures
  • Follow all shipyard safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Perform fire watch duties when qualified
  • Assistwith rigging, lifting, and material handling operations
