Job description

Be part of the growing and exciting renewable energy industry by joining the Vestas North America Regional SCADA Solutions Team which is tasked with the deployment and support of Wind Power Plant SCADA and control systems.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Configure, test, and deploy SCADA solutions for large-scale wind farms
  • Integrate wind turbine SCADA systems with power plant controllers (PPCs), grid interfaces, and external control systems.
  • Power Plant Controller (PPC) commission and test; HMI, RTU communications, and power, frequency, & voltage control loops
  • Implement communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA) for real-time data exchange.
  • Investigate and resolve SCADA communication issues affecting wind farm performance.
  • Provide technical support to customers, field service teams, and internal personnel on SCADA systems.
  • Liaison between Networking, Customer, Cybersecurity, on-site personnel, Project Managers, Developers, and various internal & external stakeholders.
  • Remote configuration of software, client and project profiles, and hardware as contracted.
  • Supplying SCADA & power plant systems engineering, functional design specification, configuration and layout support according to the contract.
  • This means acting as a project lead and providing SCADA technical support for new wind power plant construction projects for the North America Region ensuring their on-time delivery.

Additional Duties:
  • Act as a direct interface between the project and turbines R&D for SCADA
  • Provide and maintain SCADA and powerplant system documentation, incl. as-built
  • Regular customer interactions in support of SCADA issues and topics.
  • Support New Product Introduction, Quality, and Standardization processes for the SCADA team
  • Deliver support for critical break-fix issues affecting existing SCADA systems
  • Participate in knowledge share & support for PMs and other stakeholders throughout the project commissioning steps.
  • Regularly track and report on project health, wins and lessons learned

Qualifications:
  • 0-5 years' experience in any of the following areas:
  • Electro-mechanical or electrical engineering (theoretical and practical) background
  • Practical experience with SCADA technologies, implementation, and installation
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols for data and information exchange like DNP3, Modbus, IEC61850, IEC60870, IEC61400-25 and other relevant communication standards.
  • Technical knowledge within areas of industrial automation and RsLogix/PLC/RTU technology
  • Knowledge and experience with design and implementation of SCADA and Electrical control systems for industrial automation systems
  • Professional English Skills both verbal and written
  • Experience leading technical projects, project accountability, and/or teams
  • Ability to periodically travel internationally

Additional considered & valuable experience:
  • Cisco based networking & equipment familiarity
  • Network topology diagrams & IP Addressing; DMVPN, TNT, VPN, WAN
  • Single & multi-mode fiber optics
  • Project Management
  • Technical contract writing or support
  • Other SCADA or state-logic software and hardware configuration, simulation or support
  • Professional experience for maintaining real-world production systems.
  • Knowledge about Information Security and Risk Management
  • Working experience with CMMS (i.e., JIRA, SAP, or similar tools)
  • Motivation and initiative to accomplish your tasks with low direct supervision
  • Accountability and focus on efficiency and quality control
  • Ability to work with customers and coworkers to reach a common goal on both a technical and non-technical level
