About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and/or SCADA to support the design, implementation, and optimization of mission-critical systems for electric/gas/water utility clients. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between business stakeholders, utility operations teams, and technical delivery teams to ensure solutions align with grid modernization and operational reliability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for ADMS/SCADA implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
  • Collaborate with utility SMEs (Distribution Operations, Control Room, Field Operations) to understand real-time monitoring, outage management, and grid control workflows.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, use cases, and user stories for development and QA teams.
  • Support system integration efforts across ADMS, SCADA, OMS (Outage Management System), GIS, MDMS, and EMS platforms.
  • Conduct gap analysis between current and future state processes, especially around telemetry, real-time data acquisition, and grid automation.
  • Facilitate workshops, JAD sessions, and stakeholder interviews to capture requirements and validate solution design.
  • Create process flow diagrams, data mapping documents, and traceability matrices.
  • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) planning, test case development, and defect triage.
  • Work closely with vendors (e.g., GE, Schneider Electric, Siemens, OSI, ETAP) on product configuration and customization needs.
  • Assist in change management, training material development, and end-user adoption strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC/FERC, utility regulatory standards, and cybersecurity requirements (NERC CIP) where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within the energy/utility sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of ADMS and/or SCADA systems (e.g., GE PowerOn, Survalent, OSI Monarch, Schneider ADMS, Siemens Spectrum Power).
  • Understanding of electric distribution network operations, outage management, DERMS, or grid automation concepts.
  • Experience with requirement gathering tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps) and documentation standards (BRD, FRD, SRS).
  • Familiarity with utility data systems: GIS, OMS, MDMS, EMS, Historian (PI/OSIsoft).
  • Knowledge of SCADA protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or hybrid delivery environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor''''s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Prior experience with utility clients (IOUs, municipal utilities, or co-ops).
  • Certification in CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile BA is a plus.
  • Exposure to smart grid, DERMS, or renewable integration projects.
