Job description

Title:
SATCOM SME
KBR is seeking an Enterprise Satellite Communication System Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC) located at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
A strong candidate has a comprehensive knowledge of satellite communications (SATCOM) systems, satellite transmissions, management, satellite system control, and operational procedures. In this position, you will:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide acquisitions, operations, sustainment, and engineering technical analysis and support for the USSF Enterprise SATCOM architecture for Commercial and Enterprise SATCOM systems.
  • Review, coordinate, and advise on SATCOM operating processes and procedures and provide technical support of material system development and fielding.
  • Provide technical operational/engineering expertise for resolution of operational issues/problems related to space, ground, and terminal segments.
  • Develop and interpret broad DoD Space, and SATCOM policies and regulations, existing policies, and regulations in relation to HQ USSF program goals and objectives.
  • Provide analysis and recommended methods for improving efficiency of SATCOM functions through modifications and applications of evolving technology, developing tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Develop policy and procedures in accordance with the Combat Force Proponent-Fielding Process (CFP-FP).
  • Coordinate across multiple services, commands, and agencies during planning and Operational Acceptance.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations regarding technical functions of satellite payloads and ground station architectures.
  • Travel may be required for limited durations to support Customer events.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility; however, an Active Secret security clearance with Top Secret/SCI security clearance eligibility may be considered. This is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain.
  • BA/BS degree (5+ years of relevant experience may substitute)
  • 10 years of combined SATCOM experience with one or more of the following systems/platforms:
    • Strategic MILSATCOM systems/platforms (e.g., AEHF, Milstar, EPS, ESS).
    • Wideband MILSATCOM systems/platforms (e.g., DSCS, WGS, PATS, PTES).
    • Narrowband MILSATCOM systems/platforms (e.g., UFO, MUOS).
  • Headquarters Staff experience for a Service, Combatant Command, Field/Major Command, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Operations Integration and Sustainment
  • Experience with providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis and recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality products in a high-tempo, collaborative environment.
  • Accustomed to professionally working with internal / external senior leaders, offices, directorates, and action officers.
  • Ability to work in a secure, confined location (i.e., SCIF, SAP-F, etc.).

Desired:
  • Experience with Joint- or Service-level strategy and/or concept development.
  • Experience with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) processes.
  • Experience with US Space Force weapon systems and missions.

Work Environment:
  • Location: On-site at Peterson SFB, CO
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
  • Working Hours: Standard

Scheduled Weekly Hours:
40hrs
Basic Compensation:
$120,000 - $135,000
This range is for Colorado only.
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
