Position Overview

Prep Academy Tutors of Northern Los Angeles is seeking qualified, dedicated, and compassionate High School Science and Math Teachers and Tutors to provide personalized, one-on-one academic support to students in Grades 912throughout the Northern Los Angeles area.

Our educators help students build confidence, strengthen foundational knowledge, and master advanced concepts in mathematics and science. We are looking for professionals who are passionate about helping high school students succeed through individualized instruction tailored to each student's learning style, academic needs, and goals.

This is an excellent opportunity for certified science and math teachers, experienced educators, and qualified tutors who enjoy making a meaningful impact outside of the traditional classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring for high school students (Grades 912) in mathematics and/or science
  • Support students in subjects including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science
  • Assist with homework, study skills, executive functioning, and test preparation, including AP courses and SAT/ACT math and science-related content when appropriate
  • Develop individualized learning plans based on each student's needs and academic goals
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to families
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
  • Travel to students' homes throughout the Northern Los Angeles area
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field required; teaching credential or advanced degree preferred
  • Valid California teaching credential or equivalent is highly preferred
  • Experience teaching or tutoring high school mathematics and/or science
  • Strong knowledge of high school math and science curriculum and instructional best practices
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt instruction to diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Minimum Requirements

Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a valid California teaching credential or equivalent
  • Be a current student teacher pursuing a teaching credential
  • Have two or more years of experience teaching high school mathematics and/or science in a public, private, or charter school
  • Have significant experience providing one-on-one or small-group tutoring in high school math and/or science
  • Be a graduate student in Mathematics, Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field with teaching or instructional experience
