As a high school tutor, you assist students with various subjects to help them gain a better understanding of the material and complete their schoolwork successfully. You can work with an individual or a group. While this is not mandatory, it is common to specialize in a particular area, such as math or writing. Qualifications for a career as a high school tutor include an associate degree in education or a specialization. Certification is voluntary, but it can help improve your chances of employment. Organizations like the National Tutoring Association offer accreditation programs.
